With a new school year comes a new call out for room parents. Being a room parent is a great way to get involved in your child’s classroom and allows you to support your child’s teacher and classmates throughout the school year. Please note that room parents are coordinated and funded by the PTA and all room parents are required to be current PTA members to qualify.
Room Parents are the liaisons between teachers and families. It is a rewarding job that lets you improve the experience of your child and their classmates. Some teachers may want a lot of help (or very little); setting up a meeting with your child’s teacher is recommended to go over expectations for the year. Here are some things you may be asked to do:

If you are selected to be a room parent you will be notified by 9/20 and will be given details about the room parent welcome meeting.
As a room parent, you don’t have to do it all! Know that many classes have two or three room parents to share the responsibilities. Other parents in the class are also eager to help. In the event there are many parents interested in assisting a certain classroom, the selected room parents would be provided the names of the other interested parents so they can assist during the year. The room parent selections will be made in collaboration with the teacher, if there are many interested parents. If you are interested in being a room parent for multiple classrooms, please list them in order of preference. Being a room parent is fun and a great way to make lasting friendships with other Addams families!
